Laura Veirs - "July Flame" video
Summer will be upon us in another month, so I thought I'd share this lovely song by Laura Veirs. "July Flame" comes off her 2010 album of the same name; it started as a competition between Veirs and a friend when they were intrigued by "July flame" peaches at a farmer's market. And the video features fireworks in the shape of peaches! But the name takes on a second meaning, for a secret summer love:
July flame, ashes of a secret heart
Falling in my lemonade
Unslakable thirsting in the backyard
Laura Veirs resides in Portland, Oregon, where she crafts folksy indie pop, and she is playing shows this week in Seattle, Washington and Portland, Oregon.
